 The Show Creator

Dan Malveaux

Making his start at KLFY TV Channel 10 in Lafayette, Louisiana nearly 20 years ago, Dan Malveaux entered the world of entertainment. Simultaneously he worked for KJCB 770 AM, one of the few Black-owned radio stations in the area. A man on a mission, he also jockeyed two weekly radio shows, entertaining listeners with the latest hip hop joints and slow jams. Having worked every behind the scenes job imaginable: news photography, floor manager, lighting director, graphics operator, master control, editor, and live truck operator, Dan was not only determined to succeed in television and film, but it soon became clear that doing so was his destiny.

While working shows such as The Jerry Lewis Telethon, Passé Partout (French Morning Show), along with segments on the Mardi Gras and live wrestling, more of Dan’s vision came into focus. It was then that he solidified his aspirations to become a producer.

In 1999 Dan accepted a position at Houston’s KRIV Fox 26 as weekend audio engineer and weekday floor manager of the nightly newscast. After two years he became editor of the morning show, soon being promoted to nightly newscasts, where he worked on feature stories and developed some of his greatest strengths in television production. Working shows like Houston Idol, Texas Justice and the Governor Debate propelled Dan to a new level of excellence and expertise in the field.

Dan eventually joined the ranks of  KHOU Channel 11 as weekend audio engineer, moving up to weeknights, and ultimately senior level, building an impressive repertoire of work including Dining Diva, Great Day Houston, Texans Pre-game shows, Political Debates, Parades, Houston’s Funniest Home Videos, and Fashion and Investigative shows. With a solid string of successes, Dan was catapulted into independent projects. He developed his company, Open Box Productions, under which he edited/directed comedy skits for comedian, Derrick Keener and a Blake Shelton Time Lapse video with Reginald C Adams; and co-wrote/directed/produced a short documentary entitled, "Jena 6, A Threat To Justice"; and developed a web series entitled “The Krew” (launching in February 2014 on YouTube).

Dan is currently in development on “I Got a Story To Tell,” a web series about the life of a newly divorced man in his 30s getting back into the dating game. He is also completing a documentary on Pearl Harbor Hero, Doris Miller, the first African American Navy serviceman to receive the navy's highest medal for bravery.

Dan is passionate about community service and gladly lends his gifts and talents to causes he believes in. His roster of service projects includes When & Where I Enter (a foundation benefiting Afro-Latina women and girls living in Latin America), MOCAH (MUSEUM OF CULTURAL ARTS) and Project 40K (the mission of a local radio personality to eradicate domestic abuse).

Having been a physical trainer for years, Dan enjoys educating the public on healthy living through the Dan Fitness Online Training Program and sharing his knowledge on the Dan Fitness Facebook page. Adding Author to his list of credentials, he recently released an e-book boasting 500 or less calorie meals and smoothies.
